Stunning 147 wins it for Ronnie

Rocket Ronnie O'Sullivan took it to the max as he clinched a place in the final of the Maplin UK snooker championship at Telford last night.

The world No.3 trailed Mark Selby 3-0, 4-1, 6-3 and 7-5 in their semi-final but slowly made up the lost ground to win 9-8.

In the process the Rocket amazingly finished off Selby with a maximum break which earns him a £25,000 bonus. It was O'Sullivan's eighth 147 in competition - a feat which equals Stephen Hendry's record.

An unscheduled toilet break at the end of a 44-minute fifth frame seemed to revive O'Sullivan's flagging fortunes.

O'Sullivan will move to the top of the provisional rankings if he wins a third UK title today when facing Stephen Maguire in the final.
