GOLDEN oldie Steve Davis OBE is assured of his place in the top 16 of the world snooker rankings at the age of 50.
The six-times world champion will remain among the elite despite losing in the first round of the 2007 World Championship to John Parrott.
A UK Championship quarter-final and a semifinal in the Welsh Open have been Davis's best performances this season.
Mark Selby will be in the top 16 and other debutants will be Ding Jun Hui and Ryan Day - they will not have to qualify for the TV stages of tournaments. Matthew Stevens, Anthony Hamilton and Barry Hawkins drop out.
