Bath 19-16 L. Irish

Bath used their game in hand to good effect as they grabbed top spot in the Guinness Premiership.

But the home side had to hang on in the closing minutes after Ross Broadfoot's late try and conversion for the Exiles.

Bath's tries were spectacular length-of-the-field efforts, the first from Michael Stephenson and the second finished by Matt Banahan just after half-time.

The Exiles' Tomas de Vedia was sin-binned on 38 minutes and Bath flanker Jonny Faamatuianu followed at the break after Eoghan Hickey for Irish and Bath's Olly Barkley had exchanged penalties.
