Carl's star can shine

Debauchery (2.10) can put his rivals to shame by winning the maiden hurdle that kicks off the action at Towcester today.

Carl Llewellyn's gelding, a dual bumper winner last season, was fancied to make a winning hurdles debut at Lingfield in December but ran as though in need of the race.

However, he still shaped promisingly to finish third and the manner in which he stayed on again after getting tapped for toe suggests that he will be in his element on this much stiffer track.

At Plumpton, the Noel Chance-trained Turbulance (2.30) should give the bookies a rough ride in the opening novice hurdle.

The grey was a good second over course and distance in handicap company two outings ago and this looks a bit easier.
