Vauxhall's Fabrizio Giovanardi kept his British Touring Car Championship title hopes on track with a front-row start for the final round at Thruxton.
Giovanardi goes into the climactic race at the Hampshire circuit nine points behind SEAT's Jason Plato.
Giovanardi will start in second place behind team-mate Tom Chilton.
