Roberto di Matteo aiming high with MK Dons

New MK Dons boss Roberto Di Matteo aims to achieve more as a manager than he did as a player.

The former Chelsea and Italy midfielder's first managerial post is as the replacement for Paul Ince, who left the League One club for Blackburn.

And Di Matteo, 38, forced to retire from playing after a triple leg fracture in 2002, said: "A good player doesn't always make a good manager, but I want to be more successful than I was in my playing days.

"I want to keep the momentum here and help the chairman implement his vision of taking the club higher.

"This is a great opportunity for me. I am very excited, but I also have to be realistic."
