Chelsea have signed FC Porto defender Jose Bosingwa for £16.1million. If you haven’t got a clue who he is, fear not, as this handy fact file will fill you in.
1. Jose Bosingwa was born in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo in August 1982.
2. Although his favoured position is right back, during his time at Boavista he also played as a winger and defensive midfielder.
3. He was signed for FC Porto by Jose Mourinho in 2003.
4. During his first season at the club he made 13 appearances and won the Portuguese championship and the Champions League.
5. He was suspended by Porto in 2005 after being involved in a car crash. His jeep skidded off the motorway, rolled down an embankment then burst into flames. All four passengers survived but one had to have his left foot amputated.
6. He has six national caps for Portugal.
7. He also represented Portugal in the 2004 Olympic Games and the 2004 under-21 European Championships.
8. Manchester United, Liverpool and Aston Villa have all made moves for Bosingwa in recent months.
9. Here he is scoring for Porto against Estoril.
10. And finally, here’s a picture of Bosingwa in action against Arsenal in the Champions League back in December 2006. The match finished 0-0, and Porto progressed to the last 16 of the tournament, only to be knocked out by former manager Jose Mourinho's Chelsea side in the last 16.
