South African Hennie Otto has a five-stroke lead with one round to play in the Madeira Islands Open.
Chasing his first win on the circuit and not even the holder of a Tour card at the moment, the 31-year-old added a third successive 67 yesterday for a 15-under-par total.
Scotland's Alastair Forsyth hit a 66 to move into second place from seventh.
Londoner Gary Clark, another without a Tour card, made even greater strides. He shot 64 - his best round of the week - to move from 19th to third on nine under.
But pre-tournament favourite Bradley Dredge remains in 20th place - 13 shots adrift.
He is the only player currently in the world's top 125 taking part and desperately needs to win to move back into the top 50 a week before the cutoff for the Masters.
