Roy Hodgson praised his players as Fulham came back from two goals down to beat Manchester City 3-2.
Cottagers boss Hodgson said: "At half-time I challenged the players to show their character - and in the end they went well beyond that.
"I can't explain how we came back, but it is even harder to explain why we were two goals down at half-time because I felt that was very cruel.
"We have given ourselves a massive shot in the arm and next week's game against Birmingham is huge.
"This wasn't a lucky win. Joe Hart produced four or five spectacular saves and we also scored three goals, so we got our reward for some good football."
