PORTSMOUTH boss Harry Redknapp is heading the list of suitors of Southend's Carling Cup hero Freddy Eastwood.

Eastwood played under Redknapp as a trainee at West Ham before being axed by Glenn Roeder and joining non-League Grays.

Redknapp is considering a January bid for the striker after seeing him dump out Manchester United on Tuesday with a thunderous free-kick.

The Pompey boss said: "I had him as a kid at West Ham. He is a nice lad and a very good player. I never understood why Glenn let him go.

"He went to Grays and did well there and has been a terrific signing for Southend.

"I have no doubt he is capable of playing in the Premiership and someone will buy him."

Redknapp is also keen on West Brom winger Zoltan Gera, but will face competition from Celtic.
