Wigan face competition from five Premier League rivals to land Everton star Andy Johnson.

Latics boss Steve Bruce is desperate to pair the striker with Emile Heskey at the JJB next season.

But he could be priced out of a move Everton boss David Moyes has made it clear Johnson is part of his plans - but insiders admit he could be tempted to sell if the price is right.

And with six topflight sides - including Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Fulham - in the picture the competition could drive that price as high as £12million.
