Fa Chairman Lord Triesman has asked bosses like Sir Alex Ferguson to cut out public criticism of match officials.
Sir Alex hit the headlines when he berated referee Martin Atkinson after Manchester United's shock FA Cup quarter-final defeat by Portsmouth.
Lord Triesman said: "I hugely admire Sir Alex Ferguson. But I hope that in his quieter moments he will also think what is felt around the country the following morning when somebody has to go out on to a park with everybody feeling, 'If the very prominent people can do it, I can do it as well'."
