David Beckham is tonderful, says Gareth Barry

Gareth Barry is praying David Beckham grabs his 100th England cap under new boss Fabio Capello.

The ex-England skipper was thrown into a Real Madrid hell by Capello, although the coach later did an embarrassing U-turn and brought back Becks with the playmaker in world-class form.

Barry said: "There is no one that deserves it more, and he has been a great player and captain for England so, yes, it would be really great to see that after has come so close."

Capello refuses to make promises about selection, declaring each game dictates its own terms - although Wayne Rooney and Steve Gerrard will probably be among the first names on his sheet for the February 6 friendly with Switzerland.

Barry added: "The lads are excited about the new manager's appointment and it's now a clean slate for everybody. Time will tell if the "big" players are guaranteed a place in the starting 11."
