Steve McClaren is confident David Beckham will be fit to be included in the squad to face Croatia at Wembley next month.
McClaren has maintained contact with the injured midfielder and has no intention of overlooking Beckham in the crucial run-in to qualification.
McClaren said: "I have had a chat with him. He's in light training at the moment but working towards being available for the Croatia game. That's his target, to be back playing and in contention for that squad.
"David Beckham's state of mind is the same as it ever is. He's a true patriot. He loves playing for England.
"We saw that when he came back into the side. That is still his motivation, that's still his mindset."
