REDS NEW BOY YOSSI VOWS..

LIVERPOOL new boy Yossi Benayoun is not fazed by Manchester United's imminent capture of Carlos Tevez.

That's because he is backing Fernando Torres to score the goals that will transform the Reds into genuine title contenders.

Rafa Benitez's £5million capture played alongside Tevez at West Ham last season as the Old Traffordbound Argentine inspired the Hammers to Premiership safety.

But while Benayoun admitted United will be an even more formidable force, he believes it's Torres who is the real deal when it comes to the art of hitting the back of the net.

"Tevez is a very big player and if United sign him he will give them a lot of good things," said Benayoun.

"But we also have a lot of good players and we will be stronger this year.

"Torres, for example, is a very good player. He will adapt very quickly at Liverpool because the Spanish guys here will help him - and I am sure he will score a lot of goals.

"Carlos is more of a player who drops off for the ball and creates - but Fernando is a real striker. He is such a quick finisher.

"When I was in Spain with Racing Santander, everybody spoke about Torres.

Even when he was young, people knew he was the biggest talent in Spain.

"He scored a lot of goals for Atletico Madrid, but never won anything. That can be different at Liverpool - and that's why he came."

Benayoun rejected West Ham's offer of a new contract and Manchester City's promise of more money than he will earn at Anfield so he could realise his dream of wearing the famous red shirt.

And he has promised Liverpool's fans he will develop into an even better player under Benitez because he will be able to concentrate on attacking for top honours rather than the negativity of a relegation fight.

He said: "My qualities will come to the fore more because I am playing with some of the best players in the world.

"Coming to Liverpool will mean that we play a lot of attacking football in every game - and that is what I am good at.

"The last time Liverpool had an Israeli, Ronny Rosenthal, they won the League, so hopefully that's a good sign!"
