Marcus Trescothick has retired from international cricket.
The opener's decision comes after he had to quit two international tours because of health problems. Trescothick recently pulled out of Somerset's pre-season trip to Dubai because of a recurrence of a stress-related illness.
Trescothick, 32, said: "I have tried on numerous occasions to make it back to the international stage and it has proved a lot more difficult than I expected. I want to extend my career for as long as possible and I no longer want to put myself through the demands that go with trying to return to the England team."
He added: "I am very proud of having been selected for 76 Test matches and over 120 ODIs.
"My desire to play is as strong as ever. But travelling abroad has become extremely stressful."
Sri Lanka opener Malinda Warnapura hit a maiden century before Jerome Taylor claimed three wickets to revive West Indies on the opening day of the first Test in Guyana.
Warnapurna made 120 as Sri Lanka closed on 269-4. The lefthander got solid support from Michael Vandort (52) and Kumar Sangakkara (50) as Sri Lanka moved to 243-2 but two wickets in an over from Taylor, who took 3-59, gave the hosts a late lift.
