Junaid Siddiqui helps Bangladesh take advantage against South Africa

Opening batsman Junaid Siddiqui and fast bowler Shahadat Hossain combined to help Bangladesh take a 147-run lead after two days of the first Test against South Africa in Dhaka.

Junaid was unbeaten on 64 at the close as the home team reached 125-4 in their second innings after skittling South Africa for 170 - a lead of 22 - thanks to a career-best haul of 6-27 by Shahadat.

Bangladesh were struggling after Springbok paceman Dale Steyn took three quick wickets to leave them on 29-3.

But Junaid steered them through the final session to a more comfortable position and Bangladesh's Australian coach Jamie Siddons said: "The bowlers did well to get us back in the match.

"If the boys can now make 250 or 300 it will be a big challenge for South Africa."
