Tyrone Edgar set Britain's men on their way to an overnight lead in a European Cup competition they won here six years ago before they had their glory taken away.
Edgar won the 100m in 10.20s and it was followed by triumphs for Martyn Rooney in the 400m and Mo Farah in the 5,000m before the men were awarded the 4 x 100m relay after winners Germany were disqualified for running out of their lane.
In 2002, Britain won the Cup and then later lost it when Dwain Chambers revealed he had been using steroids during that period. The men lead with 55 points - three in front of France and Poland.
