Neil Millard has let out two of the rooms in his house for the last two years to help cover mortgage costs.
Writer Neil, 26, from Croydon, Surrey, said: "I bought the property with a view to renting the rooms. I am looking for a lodger for one of the rooms, but the other one is rented by a teacher who I found through the SpareRoom.co.uk website.
"I get £400 a month from each of the rooms - which pretty much covers my mortgage. But you must make sure that you can cover costs yourself for when your rooms aren't let."
