The Tarantino murders parents' beg for help in catching killers

Laurent Bonomo (L) and Gabriel Ferez

The parents of murdered Gabriel Ferez yesterday told of their pain at losing their "angel" son - and begged for help in convicting his killer.

They spoke out days after French biochemistry student Gabriel was tortured and killed with his friend Laurent Bonomo.

The pals, both 23, were gagged, tied to chairs and stabbed 243 times in New Cross, South-East London.

Police described it as a Tarantino style murder after the director of the violent Reservoir Dogs film.

In a heartbreaking statement, Gabriel's mother Francoise and father Olivier pleaded for people to help police - who arrested a man yesterday - crack the case.

They said: "It is too late for Gabriel, an angel who is now a victim after giving us 23 years of love and who was always ready to help others around him. His friend Laurent was alike.

"Please help us to reveal the truth. Help us to know, to understand and to come to terms with our loss.

"Gabriel had a sister and a young brother who are now crying from their loss.

"The events that have happened are still painful to us. We are trying to come to terms with it all. "We know what happened to our son may have been the result of someone, or some people, whose psychological state of mind was disturbed. But, as parents, we need the police to find the guilty parties for us to have some kind of explanation.

"To those who committed this crime against our son and his friend we say: it is possible you did not anticipate how this might turn out. We plead with you to turn yourselves in to the police. You will not be able to live in hiding forever."

Gabriel, was taking part in a three month research project at Imperial College, London, was due to return to his home in Prouzel, near Amiens, in North-West France later this month.

His grandmother Rejane said: "He loved England. He was beautiful inside and out. He was an angel. The horror of how he died haunts me every minute. It's unbearable to us."

Gabriel, who lived in South Norwood, was visiting Laurent at his bedsit in New Cross when they were attacked last Sunday.

Mr Bonomo suffered 80 injuries after he died. One theory was that the two were caught up in a robbery.

Gabriel had been studying alongside friend Laurent, from Marseille, who was engaged to be married.

A 21-year-old man arrested at 3.40am yesterday in connection with the killings was still in custody last night.

Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
