A tube worker yesterday told how he pinned an alleged knife killer to the ground after kicking his bloodied machete away.
Dean Calmyer, 28, snatched Kayode Kuye's car keys from the ignition and held him down before police arrived.
Officers later found the body of Mr Kuye's mother, in her 60s, in a nearby house and charged him with murder.
Mr Calmyer was at Finchley station in North London when he saw a man lying in the car park, crawling towards a knife.
He said: "I kicked the knife away. He got up and ran to a car and started the engine but I grabbed his keys and he fell out.
"It sent shivers down my spine the weapon could have been used to kill somebody.
"I felt good that I had managed to stop him."
