Kim Cattral's mum proud of daughter's naked sex scenes

S.A.T.C. EXCLUSIVE 2

She's responsible for most of the sex in Sex And The City.

Man-hungry Samantha - like her friends Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte - enjoys a Cosmopolitan or two and wears fabulous shoes, but she's best known for her raunchy sex life.

She's set to bare all again in Sex And The City: The Movie.

And there's one woman who cheers when 51-year-old Kim Cattrall takes her (designer) clothes off.

Her British mum.

Shane Cattrall says: "Kim is a role model for 50-something women.

Much has been made about her nudity in the film, but I think she looks fabulous.

"Anyone who knocks that is jealous. All this fuss about a bit of nudity is ridiculous."

In her first newspaper interview Shane, 79, says: "I am one of her staunchest fans.

The other girls in the show are 10 years younger but you can't tell.

"She's got her mother's genes!"

The family moved from Liverpool to Canada when Kim was three months old.

Speaking from her home near Vancouver, Shane says her daughter - the second of four children - had star quality from an early age.

"We went to a Christmas show when Kim was three - she jumped off my lap and ran on to the stage to sing Jingle Bells!"

A star was born.

"I brought her to England in 1968 to pursue her drama, and she lived with her aunt.

It was so hard to let her go.

But I knew her heart was set on being an actress."

At 16, Kim won a place at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York.

She landed a role in the movie Rosebud after graduating and film and TV roles followed, including romantic comedy Mannequin in 1987, and starring as traitor Lieutenant Valeris in Star Trek VI.

But her most famous role is PR guru Samantha Jones - a role she turned down twice.

Shane says: "I know she thought long and hard about the role.

I told her if she didn't think she could give it her all, she shouldn't take it."

Kim's father Dennis has spoken in the past about how he thought she was wasting her talents with a show like Sex And The City.

But Shane says she never had any qualms.

"I found it quite outrageous at first, but the longer I watched it, the more I liked it.

The role was ground-breaking.

"Kim loves the Samantha character, but she's not Samantha."

Nor did Shane have any problems when her daughter wrote a sex manual with ex-husband Mark Levinson.

"The book was written for people who needed that information," she says.

Mark was Kim's third husband and the couple divorced in 2003.

Shane believes Kim has finally found happiness with a toyboy 23 years her junior - just like Samantha did in the show.

Chef lan Wyse won her heart when they met in 2004.

Shane says: "All I can say is she's happy and they're good together."

Despite her fame Kim has stayed close to her family and friends. "She is Liverpool-born and she'll never forget her roots. Family comes first," says Shane. "I like to put Kim's celebrity in a box. She is just my daughter. To me she's always Kimbo."
