Bumbling mayoral candidate Boris Johnson was heckled by gay rights campaigners yesterday for criticising gay marriage.
The Tory was reduced to banging his fist on a table in front of 1,000 gays and lesbians demanding he say sorry for likening same-sex unions to bestiality.
The debate, run by gay rights group Stonewall on the South Bank, London, challenged him over articles in The Spectator.
Tony Grew, editor of gay paper Pink News, said: "You have likened our relationships to those of three men and a dog. Will you not apologise?"
Boris refused, but said: "I am in favour of liberty."
He added he did not want to discriminate in favour of any minorities.
Boris said: "When I look at London buses, I don't see lesbian buses or gay buses, or black or white buses - I just see buses."
