Stab scene (SM)
A woman cyclist was stabbed to death after a terrifying chase along a busy road.
The 26-year-old victim tried to flee on her bike but was pursued by a car after an argument in the street.
The car, driven by a man, caught up and two women jumped out and launched a ferocious attack.
Police believe the cyclist was on a nearby road when the car pulled up alongside and there was an argument with the women inside. The victim tried to escape by riding off into another street but the car followed.
Friday night's attack in the Anfield area of Liverpool has stunned locals.
Margaret Boye-Hlorkah, 52, who lives yards from the scene said: "My son went to the front door to see what the fuss was about and two very distressed girls asked him for some towels. They told us a girl on a pink bike had been brutally stabbed. One girls was completely hysterical."
Ambulance crews pronounced the cyclist dead at the scene.
Police are still trying to identify the victim, who was white, around 5ft 6ins tall with shoulder-length dark brown hair and riding a pink Universal Fusion mountain bike. She had tattoos including the name Atalia on her hip, Demi Lee on one foot and a garland of flowers around her navel.
A post mortem was carried out yesterday and two women, aged 25 and 48, from the Anfield area were under arrest last night.
