Matt Lucas' tumour fear

EXCLUSIVE Test wait agony

Little Britain funnyman Matt Lucas is devastated after finding out his husband of 13 months may have a brain tumour.

Tv producer Kevin McGee, Matt's partner of four years, has had an MRI brain scan at a London clinic. Matt, 33, and Kevin, 31, are waiting for the results to determine if he needs surgery.

A friend of the couple said: "Matt and Kevin are closer than close and obviously this is a really worrying time for them."

Matt and Kevin tied the knot in a civil ceremony at private members' club Home House in December, 2006. The fun-loving couple then held a pantomime-themed reception at Banqueting Hall - they went as Aladdin and Prince Charming.

Guests at the bash included Elton John and his partner David Furnish, Will Young and Paul O'Grady. The other man in Matt's life - comedy partner David Walliams - dressed as Christopher Biggins.

Matt and Kevin share a £2million home in North West London. Matt describes his life off-screen as "reclusive domesticity".

Kevin is credited with helping Matt overcome his turbulent childhood. Lucas was hit by a car when he was six and it resulted in him losing all his hair.

He suffered weight problems in his early teens and when he was 14 his dad was sentenced to four years in prison for fraud. His parents divorced and his dad died at just 52.

Matt later said: "I know what it's like to have people close to me dying, go to prison, get divorced and have accidents. Life can be quite hard."

His spokesman declined to comment last night.

WHAT IS AN MRI SCAN?

Doctors do a Magnetic Resonance Imaging scan if they suspect a brain tumour.

Patients lie on a sliding table inside a large cylinder of powerful magnets.

Radio waves up to 30,000 times stronger than the magnetic field of the Earth are then sent through the body.

The scan can take up to an hour and is noisy - patients wear earplugs or headphones. The results are a series of images which specialists study for abnormalities on screen.
