Police plans to question Madeleine McCann's parents further could be delayed until after Christmas, it emerged yesterday.
Portuguese detectives have drawn up a list of questions for Gerry and Kate McCann and seven friends who were on holiday with them.
It had been thought the interviews - by British police with Portuguese colleagues present - could start this week.
But the questions must first be approved by the Portuguese public prosecutor and the investigating judge.
They must then be translated into English and approved by Home Secretary Jacqui Smith.
Madeleine, then three, vanished from the Ocean Club holiday complex in Praia da Luz on May 3.
